COMMUNITY

COMMUNITY this month looks at two Women's events. First is the CLEVELAND WOMEN'S OPEN HOUSE. The OPEN HOUSE is an ongoing series of open house evenings for women held on the last Saturday of each month. These events are held coffeehouse--style, but in private homes. Each month the OPEN HOUSE features women pe rformers, and coffee, teas, juice and delicious home made snacks are available. OPEN HOUSES are chemical-free (no alcohol or drugs) and offer women a friendly, informal alternative to the bars. OPEN HOUSE hours are from 8 p.m. to midnight, with entertainment beginning at 9 p.m. A $1.00 donation is asked at the door for the performers, and the OPEN HOUSE itself is non-profit. All women are welcome. For locations and performers at upcoming OPEN HOUSES, please call the Hotline.

Also this month on MAY 15th and 16th the CONFERENCE FOR RADICAL WOMEN will be held. Sponsored by women from the Cleveland women's community the CONFERENCE will offer workshops on Heal and Healing, Economic Empowerment for Women, Land, Fat Liberation, Women's Music and Culture and many other topics. Further details on the CONFERENCE may be found in this month's issue of GEAR.

The COMMUNITY CALENDAR was established for all of the HIGH GEAR circulation area. If your group has an item or event they would like listed on the CALENDAR, please send the information to HIGH GEAR, COMMUNITY CALENDAR, P.O. BOX 6177 CLEVELAND, OHIO 44101.

PLEASE be sure to include a phone number we can contact for further information if required. SUBMISSION DATE FOR ALL ITEMS IS THE 15th OF THE PRECEDING MONTH.
